Games with Zero and Loose Quantities
Aim: To enrich the child’s concept of numbers from 1 to 10.
These can be done in group presentations
Game 1 Corresponds to the second period lesson. The Directress says to a child “Bring me 6 pencils”, to another “Bring me 3 books” and so on.
Game 2 Corresponds to the third period lesson: The use of the model farm: The guide shows the child a group of similar animals and asks him how many there are, repeating this with the various animals. This corresponds to the third period.
Game 3 Corresponds to the third period lesson: The use of the model farm: The children first help the guide lay out the animals (use the green mats). The teacher then asks the children “How many cows are there in this field?” “How many sheep are lying down?” and she continues asking about all the animals, asking each time “How many?”
Game 4 Corresponds to the third period lesson: Use pictures and also concrete examples, such as the children setting a table. Ask the children as many questions as possible about the quantities in the picture: “How many cups, saucers, etc.?”
Game 5 Corresponds to the third period lesson: Go into the outdoor environment to count a) petals on flowers; b) cars passing in one minute; c) houses, etc.
