This is amusing because of some of the ridiculous combinations!
Material
- A box with a large blue triangle on it. It contains a set of nouns in one color and a set of adjectives in another.
- Also a set of grammar symbols.
Direct aim
To show the child the function of the adjective and to give reading practice.
Teacher’s presentation
- Put out the nouns in rows getting the child to read them aloud as he puts them down.
- Take out the adjectives and put the first one next to the first noun, ask the child if it makes sense, if he says ‘yes’ leave it there.
- If he says ‘no’ move it down to the next noun and see if it makes sense there.
- Continue to move it down until he finds an adjective which makes sense.
- When the adjective has been placed take another one and start to match it as before, starting from the top.
If the child makes a mistake do not correct, but wait until the end when he will find ones that do not fit and will then look for his mistakes.
