Lists containing words with phonograms as in the ‘secret’ booklets. Each list deals with one particular phonogram.

Overcoming a particular spelling difficulty

Seeing how the child can employ the word, seeing how many he can remember
Exercise 1
They may be used in dictation by another child.
Exercise 2
The child may read it, turn it over and write down as many words as he can remember.

The child can make up a little story using the words in the charts

Exercise
Let the children type out the list on a computer, typing words for “sh” such as ship, shed, ash, sashes, shin, cash (show them how to erase if necessary) so that they have a perfect copy. They take an interest in being able to make a perfect replica.
